Staticide® 6500 ESD Safety Shield Aerosol

Advanced Dissipative Static Control Aerosol

Staticide® ESD Safety Shield is made of a proprietary blend of conducting polymers, making the coating inherently dissipative regardless of ambient relative humidity. Available in liquid and in a convenient aerosol spray, Staticide® ESD Safety Shield is suitable for use in ESD controlled environments where contamination is a concern and anywhere static interferes with production assembly. This durable polymer formula provides dependable protection by allowing static to dissipate safely without wearing off or losing resistivity, unlike surfactants. Staticide® ESD Safety Shield coating can be cured at ambient temperatures or accelerated with low heat.

Intended for indoor use, Staticide® ESD Safety Shield is a simple to use, one-part, water-based system, ideal for plastic parts and packaging, electronic housings, conveyor parts, bins, shelving, on objects in electronic assembly work areas and is flexile enough for soft plastics like tubing, clamshell protective packaging, carrying trays, and lids, and more to prevent static buildup and maintain ESD safety. Whether applied by spraying, flow coat, dipping, or foam brush, the coating will be translucent without appearing "milky" and will adhere to many plastics without any specialty cure or treatment, and without chipping or peeling.

Staticide® ESD Safety Shield's low V.O.C. formulation will not outgas once completely cured. It is RoHS compliant and meets ANSI/ESD S20.20 standards, and the aerosol can contains no CFCs.

Directions:

Pretreatment: Clean surface of dust, oil, and other contamination with isopropyl alcohol to prevent specking. Test surface before use. Optionally, preheat parts to 140-175°F (60-79°C) for better coverage.

Application: Ideal conditions for applying coating is 60-75°F (15-23°C) and 30-40% RH. Apply coating using a HVLP sprayer, polyurethane foam brush, flow-coating system, or by dipping. For aerosol cans, shake can extremely vigorously and spray a light mist 8-12” from surface with can in an upright position, two passes is generally sufficient.

Allow 2 hours to dry to touch in ideal ambient conditions, with 7 days required for a full cure. Forced-air drying between 175-195°F (79-90°C) for 15–30 minutes can be done in an oven. Features such as screw or tap holes should be machined after treatment. Clean applicator tools or sprayer tip with water immediately after use. Maintain coated surface with Staticide® 6001 Mat & Table Top Cleaner.
